Auto Dealerships' Parts and Service Revenue Booms
As a group, parts and service revenue for the six publicly traded new-car dealership groups was about $3.9 billion in the fourth quarter, an increase of 5.3% vs. the fourth quarter of 2022. For all of 2023, parts and service revenue was about $15.4 billion for the group, up 7.7%. Many dealerships are staying open longer and delivering a growing number of parts and services via mobile service trucks in order to attract and retain more parts and service business. Read more.
Amazon Offers Advance Grocery Pickup/Delivery Window
Amazon is offering a new service, known as Recurring Reservations, enabling shoppers in nearly 1,300 cities and towns in the U.S. to set up their preferred day and time window for weekly grocery pick-up and delivery up to seven days in advance. In addition, customers can utilize another new shopping feature called Repeat Items to save time on routine shopping by having their favorite items ready and automatically waiting in their cart in advance. Dollar General Opens 20,000th Store
Dollar General Corp. opened its 20,000th store at its DG Market location in Alice, Texas, on Feb. 24. This latest company achievement comes on the heels of the announcement last month that more than 5,000 Dollar General stores offer produce, providing more individual points of produce distribution than any other U.S. mass retailer or grocer. Over 5,000 stores also carry the top 20 items typically sold in traditional grocery stores. Read more.
