Private Fleet Benchmarking Survey Reports Growth and Efficiency

A new industry survey makes it clear that private fleets are growing, as 122 companies submitted data for the National Private Truck Council’s annual benchmarking survey. This is the most company submissions the NPTC has received since the survey began. Private fleets now make up nearly half of the truck market and carry 75% of outbound shipments. FedEx is preparing to scale its eCommerce fulfillment offering through a strategic alliance and investment in Nimble, an artificial intelligence robotics and autonomous technology company. Through the alliance, FedEx can use Nimble’s fulfillment centers. Target Grows its Next-Day Delivery Network

Target has grown its supply chain footprint by opening its 11th sortation center. Target says the center will bring its next-day delivery offering to over three million consumers across the Detroit area. The sortation center will retrieve packages daily from 30 to 40 local stores and sort, batch and route them for delivery to local neighborhoods by a local delivery driver or a third-party carrier. Up to 90% of items ordered on Target.com before noon will be delivered the next day. Read more.
